Applicable Working Conditions of orifice Flowmeters
Orifice flowmeters are the most classic and widely adopted differential pressure flow measuring devices based on the throttling effect. Featuring simple structure, low cost, high robustness, and fully mature industry standards, they have long been the mainstream solution for conventional flow measurement in various industrial fields.
Firstly, orifice flowmeters are highly suitable forclean single-phase gas and liquid media. They can stably measure industrial water, light petroleum products, compressed air, natural gas, and other pure fluids with stable physical properties. They are widely used for routine process monitoring and auxiliary metering in chemical, power, and petroleum industries.
Secondly, they adapt well to high-temperature and high-pressure working conditions. With reliable metal throttling structure and high-pressure flange configuration, orifice plates can withstand extreme temperature and pressure environments, making them applicable for superheated steam, high-pressure process gas, and high-pressure liquid pipeline measurement with strict safety requirements.
In addition, they are ideal for stable and constant flow working conditions. With excellent repeatability and stable differential pressure output under steady flow rates, they are suitable for long-term continuous monitoring of process pipelines with little flow fluctuation, providing reliable data for industrial production and energy statistics.
However, orifice flowmeters have obvious application limitations. They require long straight pipe sections for flow field stabilization, are not suitable for dirty, viscous, or solid-containing media that easily cause deposition and abrasion, and have relatively low accuracy for low-flow and wide-range variable flow conditions.
